Two corrections officers with the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department suffered minor injuries Friday after being assaulted by an inmate.
According to a press release from the sheriffs office, Nakayland James Yost, 20, was in the process of being moved within the jail facility when he became combative and assaulted the two officers.
Corrections Sergeant Robert Exner was transported to the Sanford Bemidji Emergency Room where he was treated and released for his injuries.
Corrections officer Anthony Olson was also injured but was not hospitalized.
The incident is being investigated by the Bemidji Police Department and is pending review by the Beltrami County Attorneys’ Office for criminal charges.
