Community Spotlight-Pine River-Backus Relay for Life

The Pine River-Backus Relay for Life served to let cancer survivors know they are not alone. The event gathered 40 survivors with a combined 460 years of battling cancer to prove the disease is a battle, not a death sentence. About 110 people walked laps around the track from 7pm Friday through 5am Saturday in Pine River. The group showed their support for the survivors and raised money for the American Cancer Society. The nearly $24,000 raised will go toward cancer research, advocacy, education, and services to those receiving treatment.
