In Focus: Wastewater Treatment Facility Mural

After four weeks of work, the gray buildings of the Wastewater Treatment Facility have transformed with a newly completed mural. Local artist Wesley May finished mural is breathing new life into the Bemidji community. May’s piece is called “Protect, Honor, Give Thanks for the Water,” and it uses nature to symbolize loving relationships and highlight the facilities function. The mural is on a 56 ft by 30 ft wall, and May says he painted the entire thing free hand. But the piece wasn’t just an opportunity to sharpen his skills, May also used the process to teach and inspire new artists. May hopes that the Bemidji community finds love and beauty when they drive by and see his finished piece.
