Flaxseed is a small seed that resembles a sesame seed. You can use it in a variety of ways — but it must be milled or ground for the nutrients to be released. You can buy ground flax seeds. It is best to store them in the refrigerator. I prefer to buy whole flax seeds and grind them in an extra electric coffee grinder that I keep just for that purpose. If you’re not used to eating flax, start with a small amount and work up to a couple of tablespoon.
