Kids Outdoor Camp-Northwoods Adventure

The Northland Arboretum in Brainerd hosts the Outdoor Education Camp this week. Kids ages 10-12 learn about the natural world around them, and how to safely enjoy it. The kids learn how to identify different kinds of trees and tie different knots. They learn the bow-line hitch to use in case they need to hoist someone to safety. Campers also learn the improved clinch knot to make a pop can caster–a simple device used in place of a fishing rod and reel. Campers also take pictures throughout the week with a chance to win a photography contest and have their picture in the Arb’s 2015 calendar.
