Nearly 200 anglers wet their lines in the 25th annual Leech Lake Kids’ Fishing Derby, Saturday.
Kids ages 1-14 years lined the rocky shore at the Federal Dam Recreation Area.

The ten years-old Ethan Enerson continued pulling out one bull head after another, until he led the field with eight fish.

One of the smallest anglers caught the biggest fish, a 17-inch northern pike.
The fish put up such a battle that four years-old Alex Miskovich was lucky he won a net as a prize.

The event brings kids, parents, law enforcement, and Bobber the Water Safety Dog together.
The kids receive lifejackets, prizes, and important lessons in fishing and safety.
