New Memorial Celebrates All Veterans

Two years and $65,000 dollars later, Northern Beltrami County finally has a new veterans memorial. At a dedication ceremony today, veterans, family members, and friends turned up in red, white, and blue to show their support for all service men and women. The memorial features an operation Iraqi soldier on bended knee and serves as a salute to all veterans. A unique feature of the monument is the foot prints on the cement walkway. They represent the footsteps of soldiers from past wars, so people can actually walk in our soldiers foot steps. The memorial was designed by three students form the Kelliher school. It can be viewed at the Old School Center in Kelliher at Highway 72 and 4th St.
