Nisswa Businesses Loudly Speakout Against Proposed Noise Barrier
Downtown Nisswa sits at the bottom of a small hill along side Highway 371, perfectly visible for any driving passing by. The Minnesota Department of Transportation, who has a couple other of current projects on Highway 371 in the Brainerd Lakes Area, recently did a study and found Nisswa would benefit from a noise barrier between the downtown and the highway.
Nisswa’s visibility along Highway 371 is no accident. The city spent a couple of years engineering a plan to serve the bypass while keeping the downtown area alive with travelers.
During this mornings meeting the main voice coming from the business owners was a loud no followed by questions of how their vote and voice are heard.
