According to the Norman County Sheriff’s Department, a sheriff’s deputy was shot by a male suspect on County Road 39 between Perley and Borup Tuesday morning. Authorities have arrested a suspect.
Officials say the officer pulled the suspect over for a traffic stop when he was shot. This happened around 8:30 Tuesday morning. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the Norman County deputy was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The BCA said the deputy arrested one of the two occupants in the vehicle on a warrant. The other person in the vehicle shot the deputy and the officer returned fire, but the suspect fled in the vehicle. The suspect was located about two hours later.
