Joe Vene is an accomplished United States war veteran.

He served in the 1950s overseas in Germany, moving into the start of the Vietnam War. Today, he serves on the Beltrami County Board of Commissioners.

Vene is known in Bemidji for having a strong soprano voice. He signs the national anthem at events around the city frequently. He says the passion he has for helping veterans live peacefully comes out in the way he sings.

Currently, he’s working to get a veteran’s home built in Bemidji.
