Two Charged in Deadly Brainerd Shooting


Both 23-year-old Tyler Cronquist and 26-year-old Nathan Becker were charged today from Sunday’s deadly shooting in Brainerd. Cronquist received two counts of 1st and 2nd degree murder charges, while Becker received four counts of aiding and abetting. As we reported both suspects were charged in the deadly shooting Sunday evening in Northern Brainerd, killing Joseph Kroll and hospitalizing Chelsey Crawford. According to the criminal complaint made public today Crawford told police Becker and Cronquist were in the apartment when Kroll arrived. When she left the living room she heard a lot noise and saw Kroll on the floor. Crawford says Cronquist then shot her in the head before fleeing with Becker. Police say they were able to arrest both Becker and Cronquist within hours of the shooting and they have no other suspects in the case. Both Crawford and Kroll were taken to Essentia Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center before being transferred to North Memorial hospital. Crawford received surgery for her wounds while Kroll died because of his wounds during the shooting. Both suspects are being held at Crow Wing County Jail on a million dollar bond. Becker is due in court next on January 16th and Cronquist on February 9th.
