With that thought in mind, Central Lakes College in Brainerd hosted a class to prepare emergency responders if any of those scenarios arise. Students were educated on three different fields: Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, and Incident Command.

Once students completed their in-classroom training, they headed to the banks of the Mississippi River for simulated field training exercises. And, instructors as well as students say having the hands on experience is what makes the course so important.
